Free yogurt! Montgomery's 32 Degrees shop to treat 32 lucky customers for a full year
By: Brad Harper

A local frozen yogurt bar has come up with a sweet way to top off its first year.

To celebrate its one-year anniversary today, Montgomery’s 32 Degrees will give away free yogurt for a year to 32 people who come during the day and register at the Shoppes at EastChase location. The store will be open noon to 10 p.m.

The store’s manager, Angela Titchenell, said customers also will be able to try a new product today — Greek yogurt, in honey and black cherry flavors. There will be other giveaways as well.

“We’re going to have a fantastic anniversary party,” Titchenell said. “It’s so much fun to see the kids come in with a smile on their faces, and adults get to be a kid again.”

The store added a Twister machine a few weeks ago, which allows customers to make Blizzard-style treat using toppings of their choice. The store regularly rotates its choices of ingredients, but one constant has been the number of customers throughout the year, Titchenell said, as the city has embraced the new offerings.

“I thought with us opening in the wintertime, it would be a little bit down, but it’s been a true blessing,” she said.

She said everyone has their personal favorite concoction — hers is espresso-and-vanilla frozen yogurt with chocolate chips and caramel toppings — and that the store focuses on offering locally bought fruit every day.

That’s not the only benefit of operating in the River Region. She said the diversity of the area’s residents helps keep support strong.

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Birmingham-based frozen yogurt chain 32 degrees continues to expand its menu, an effort to set itself apart in a crowded market.

The company has introduced Greek frozen yogurt, the latest in a series of new menu items.

While all of the company's frozen yogurt has health benefits, the Greek frozen yogurt takes it to a new level, said Jenny Buha, director of development and marketing for 32 degrees.

"It is a growing trend across the industry, especially because of its added health benefits, which is high protein content and high calcium," she said. "It has double the protein of the yogurt we offer in the store now."
